It's far too late for a Blade Runner sequel.Scott himself tried to get one made years ago (titled 'Metropolis') but no-one was remotely interested in the idea. This is just ridiculous all the way...

To be honest, it sounds like this is just a scriptwriter with delusions of grandeur. It's not like it's a green-lit project or anything.

I know, but it does seem a very pointless exercise. I know Sir Ridders thought about a sequel a decade ago, but dropped the idea. Plus, why do a sequel, why not just adapt another Philip K. Dick story for the big screen?? There's tons of his stories crying out for a film version, such as The Man In The High Castle; A Maze of Death; The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch; UBIK; Flow My Tears, The Policeman Said; The World Jones Made; Time Out of Joint... The list is endless. But, I'd rather see one of the above being made, (even as mediocre as Next), rather than a sequel to Blade Runner... :P

As long as Canoe Bloody Reeves isn't in any of them.

Hey, come on!! A Scanner Darkly wasn't a bad film!! ;) In fact, it's the most faithful of all of Dick's adaptations, and Linklater using the same rotoscope techniques from Waking Life (2001), was a great idea, and gives it a unique look. Plus, Keanu wasn't THAT bad in it, but Robert Downey Jr. was better in his part. Plus, it put him on the road to his comeback... ;)

You're right. It wasn't a bad film at all, but Reeves was a drugged up space cadet for its entirety and the part didn't really call for a great deal of acting talent. And, as you say, Downey did kind of steal the show.
I just hate the way that Reeves is seen to be the 'must have' person for any science fiction film these days, usually to its detriment.
