Try this. Take some brie, a beaten egg and some breadcrumbs. Roll the piece of brie in the egg followed by the breacrumbs. Repeat once of twice and then fry the brie in about two inches of olive oil (best in a wok or a pan, something with high side) for about two minutes each side. Serve with a rocket salad garnish with homemade cranberry sauce and some deep fried crispy slices of onion. Lovely

That sounds good dragonfall, think i'm gonna have to give it a go.

Has anyone ever tried halloumi cheese? Absolutely revolting eaten raw, but like a small piece of heaven when cooked. Makes great kebabs. Cut the halloumi into large cubes and put onto skewers with pieces of pepper, onions, mushrooms etc. Baste in olive or garlic oil and then whack on the barby until the cheese is brown on the outside.

:eh?: why have I never heard of that!?

Neither have I. Where is it from? where can I get some?

Halloumi is gorgeous, especially on the BBQ. Although I do actually quite like it raw in a salad. Feta cheese is another good salad cheese.

To be honest, it's pretty available anywhere these days. Any large supermarket should have it. I should point out that the deep fried brie recipe above works equally well with camembert (sp?). I also have a fantastic recipe for a feta cheese salad if anyone is interested.

Let's hear the feta cheese salad recipe. I have a good cheese scone recipe aswell, if we're sharing. I made them last week with some random blue cheese we had in the fridge. Yum.

I am. Any recipes for cheese are always welcome.

Mmm, grilled halloumi with salad... I adore cheese, right from the stinky blue cheeses down to Dairylee triangles. A sandwich I particulary like is Philly cheese, beetroot and spring onion on brown. Other favourites are brie and tomato chutney, brie and cranberry sauce and vintage cheddar with red onion and salad cream. Another great cheese experience is blue cheese (take your pick), crusty bread and a glass of sparkling wine. Bliss.

Cheese Scones 6 oz Self Raising Flour 1 oz Butter 3 oz Grated Cheese (of any kind really, strong cheddar is my favourite) 1 Egg 2 tablespoons Milk 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon mustard powder Couple of pinches of cayenne pepper Rub the butter into the flour and salt, and add the grated cheese. Beat the eggs and milk together and add to the dry ingredients. Mix to make a dough (if it's a bit dry add some more milk). Roll out to about 3/4 inch thick, cut using a pastry cutter and brush with milk. You can also sprinkle a bit more grated cheese on top. Bake for 15-20 minutes. Serve warm with butter.
