Come Dine With Me OK. Don't know if anyone has seen this programme but I am totally addicted. The idea is really simple. Take five people who like cooking. Each day one of them hosts a dinner party for the other four. The guests then rate the evening on a score of one to ten and the winner at the end of each week gets £1,000.
Anyway, I thought we could try out a version on here. One person, the host, invites four other people to take part. Once the guests have rsvp'd, the host puts up the menu they would cook for those people along with any themes or anything they would do to make the party go with a swing. The other guests then follow suit and each person gives the other four parties a score of 1-10. The scores are secretly PM'd to an independant adjudicator who will total up the scores and post them.
The winner has the honour of coming first and becomes the next adjudicator and selects the next host etc.
What do people think? As it was my idea I'm quite happy to adjudicate the first round of parties. Any volunteers to act as the first host?

It's a good idea DF! I like that one. I'll take the first round if nobody else wants to, I just need a bit of time to come up with something suitable.

Go for it Aura. You've got to talk four other people into coming first so you've got a little bit of time to come up with a menu.
PrincessAura- 02-05-2008
Just for clarification as I've never seen this programme. I need four other people to help me with the meal or just to be victims, I mean guests?
Aeon- 02-05-2008
Ah, the joys of daytime telly, I got hooked on that too! Count me in, already get a menu planned!
dragonfall- 02-05-2008
No. Each person in the group of five takes it in turn to host a dinner party for the others, over the course of a week. So everyone ends upcooking for everyone else. Does that make sense?
PrincessAura- 02-05-2008
Ahhh, I getcha now. Well that's cool then. Aeon's in. One down, three to go.
Bobatim- 02-05-2008
Ha you can tell DF and i are unemployed, i'm hooked on this as well. Count me in.

I know. Sad isn't it.
Just to clarify, it is totally Aura's choice who she invites. Might be worth sending a couple of PM's to encourage people Aura?
PrincessAura- 02-05-2008
I'm on it, but Aeon and Bobatim can certainly be victim to my menu. You've been in the kitchen with me DF. You know what a dangerous place it can be!
dragonfall- 02-05-2008
LOL. Well Mr DF and I managed to come out unscathed.

Right, there's every chance that i'll poison the lot of you (that is if nobody serves me seafood first), but count me in!

Not liking this no seafood business! Heathens all.
I know she's in on this one too as, well, she doesn't have a choice :P
Right, thinking cap on for the menu...
Bobatim- 02-05-2008
No seafood? what kind of heresy is this?

Buenas noches. Alegre usted podría hacerlo a mi cena sudamericana.
Por favor tienen un margarita.
Otherwise known as:
Good evening. Welcome to my South American dinner. Please take a Margarita.
A caramelised lime Margarita to be precise. Let the marimba rhythm sweep you along to another place as you are invited through to the red tiled floor conservatory where tonight's meal will take place.
As you can see, you have the choice of Chilean Chardonnay or Carmenère while your appetiser is served.
Nachos. Please take your pick here, you have the choice of guacamole, minty mango salsa or refried bean dip. OR
Poblano pepper and mango quesadillas.
While that's settling nicely, please feel free to chat amongst yourselves, we've already been able to get some good conversation going. More wine anyone?
Main course. Another choice I'm afraid, I like the nibbles rather than forcing someone to eat something they don't want.
Again, take your pick.
Swordfish kebabs with peppers and lime with a pomegranate, lime and coriander salsa.
Steak, onion and pepper fajitas.
Chicken enchilladas.
Vegetable fajitas.
Phew - stuffed yet? Keep some space. You'll need it.
How about coming out into the garden to enjoy the last of the summer sun? There's a pinata out there, just watch out for local cats. Please excuse me while I sort dessert.
Sopapillas drizzled in honey and cinnamon.
Fresh mango, pomegranate and lime fruit salad accompanied by goat's milk ice cream. Or;
Avacado and lime cheesecake.
All to be followed by Caipirinha de Tangerina. A lovely Brazilian tangerine drink. Hope nobody planned driving home tonight. The Salsa troop are on the way and we're all having lessons. Once the dinner goes down of course.
