Cruelty or Tradition?? Plus, does it work??
This was on the news yesterday, and it's a ritual which beggars belief!! It's from the town of Solapur in Western India, a Muslim community, and this is a ritual which they have been doing for 500 years now. It involves DROPPING A BABY FROM THE TOP OF A 50FT HIGH TOWER!! Although they land on a cloth sheet. It's claimed that this odd and highly dangerous ritual is said to "bring them good health". Here's the link... Now, I'm not gonna bash anybodies personal beliefs, as that can lead to a world of trouble. But, when it comes to religious traditions, this is where even a liberal society would draw the line at. It's very dangerous indeed, but they say it brings them good luck, and they claim there's never been a serious fatality yet. Much emphasis on 'yet' there. If you do something like this here, your kid would be taken away by Social Services, but when does tradition end and endangerment begin?? :-|

Can't see where this could possibly bring a child good luck... Fucking stupid 'tradition' if you ask me...
