Let's face it, they could do a miriad of different and inventive things that don't involve coming up with a storyline bringing Rose back from an alternate universe. Considering they spent so much time having the Doctor moping about Rose being gone, to then have her return completely undermines the emotional dynamic that was built up. I agree with you about Martha, there was a lot of potential in her character and the word was that she would come back after her stint at Torchwood to be an even stronger presence in the show. Dragging Rose back just detracts from any advances the show made in series three, imo.
It seems quite bizarre to do. Consider that we are used to the entire cast of the show, including the main character, being very transient it does seem out of character as it were. In the forty-odd years that Dr Who has been going I can only think of one companion who ever came back to it and that was Tegan. I don't really count Sarah Jane in this as that was more of a one-off thing.

Sarah Jane got her own series though, which shows how popular the character still is with some people.

Yes, and it's a series I've quite enjoyed, but she didn't return to the Tardis as a companion.
Billie Piper was good and, I think, did a far better job than anyone really thought she would but her return to the series would destroy any feeling that her leaving evoked.

News of the World is reporting that John Simms has landed the role of Doctor Who. He will take over next year when Tennent goes all Hamlet. I think he would of been a good choice if he hadnt been the Master.
Its also report that the BBC are now scouting his New Female Partner in Crime
Yeah I wouldn't exactly use them as a reliable source there Screamy. And as you've said. He's already played the Master so he can't really become the new Doctor can he?
Sounds like a load of sweaty, hairy bollocks to me, these tabloids are too naive... :-|

And Rose was originally going to get her own series but then the miniscule, dust covered, brain cell in Russell T Davies' head that controls common sense decided that it would be a spin-off too many. Unfortunately, said brain cell appears to have stopped working again now that she's returning from the void.

I liked Rose, and she was far better than I ever expected her to be but I hate the way that RTD obviously thinks she is the best thing to happen to DW ever

I've just been re-watching Destiny of the Daleks. A new Romana, the return of Davros and a new enemy who run around in 70's disco outfits and with hot pink weaponry. You've gotta love it.

Yeah, but after that Call Girl thing, it'll be hard to think of Ms. Piper as Rose again. :P

I gotta get me one of those outfits! I warn you now, when I do get one I'll be running around singing "I lost my heart to a starship trooper" at full volume.
dragonfall- 12-10-2007
Just to warn you, it took a vatful of lip gloss to complete the look - and that was just for the men.
PrincessAura- 12-10-2007
You know full well DF that I've always had a soft spot for men who wear make up.
