Just to be off topic a little longer, Catherine Tate isn't a rake redhead and is incredibly funny. Don't be fooled by the catch-phrase show. She's still crap and ugly though... A trifle harsh I think.

I think so too. If that's ugly then ugly me up!

Just watched 'Volcano Day'. I thought it was a really good episode. Good acting all round, pretty decent effects. I take it back about Catherine Tate, she was great!

Hmm, I thought this week's ep was merely ok.

Aeon- 04-12-2008

I liked it - although I spent most of the episode playing spot the Rome set! I'm certain the house was Attia's...

Screamy- 04-12-2008

I thought it was ok but nothing outstanding. Best bit was when the Doctor pulled out his awesome water pistol  Gallifrey is being mentioned a lot so far. Is he going to save it in the future?

I thought it was a great episode and I really think that Catherine Tate showed there was more to her than just comedy, I really thought she was excellent in the scenes where she begs the Doctor to go back and rescue someone. Another mention of Rose returning I noticed. My one tiny, little moan would probably be the bit where the rock/escape pod thing flies out of the volcano, it was just a bit naff. Other than that it was very good. Right, I'm off before Donald turns up and starts telling everyone that the rock creatures looked like Transformers....

Screamy- 04-12-2008

I was thinking that. Ooo look its Megatron! :) and Russell Crowe needs some skin cream

Agree 100% with everything you've just said...especially the stuff about Donald :P

I don't know whether I was amused by this just because I am distinctly unWelsh but it did make me laugh that whenever the Doctor or Donna said something in Latin they got a response such as "Look you" or "Boyo" in a Welsh accent.

No, I never noticed the Transformers thingie. :P But, it was a good episode, they did it out at Cinecitta Studios in Rome, where the sets from Rome still stood. But, the bits with the Reverend Mother in her bed kinda reminded of 10,000 BC, with the leader of that civilisation and all. However, with some of the banter with that family, I was expecting this man to come walking on... "Oooh no missus!!" For me, Pompeii is never complete without Frankie Howerd as Lurcio. :P Anyways, Catherine Tate gave the funniest line of the episode asking "Where do you do your shopping, TK Maximus??" I know it's a bad pun, but it's an inspired one, considering the setting. Plus, it was good to see Phil Davis in it.

A great episode last night, with just the right amount of humor to offset some pretty heavy drama, I mean having to decide between saving a nation of people or the whole world, wtf that was heavy! Catherine Tate is still impressing too!

Donald McKinney- 04-15-2008

Oh, and another thing about last weeks episode, the first of the series. Why did the bit when Sarah Lancashire ascending to the spaceship only to be left hanging in mid-air for a second or two when the beam turned off before falling remind me of something out of a Road Runner cartoon?? ;)
