The second is not a dodgy romance novel, but a historical fiction novel. With some dodgy romance. :P

Is it just me or is everything that has ' No. 1 Bestseller' on it a pile of shit?

It probably depends on your standards; things that have No.1 Bestseller and the name Dan Brown on are certainly piles of shit. Aside from that I'll read pretty much anything, which is good because I read 3/4 books a week. The chances of them all being good are low. McCarthy's Bar is a very funny book though and that says bestseller on it.

I don't read much that would ever fall into the 'bestseller' category,although the publishers do claim that 'vindication'...I was just curious..

Heh, don't get me wrong, they're brilliant books. The front cover just looks like a romance novel, which amused me when Mr KB was reading it. :D
