Another truly excellent post Gimli, again, as ever, I can only really agree! You make me want to rewatch them again. I do think there are flaws in the films, of course there are, but overall the sheer magic of them overrides any little problems.

Well I only saw them at the weekend and I wouldn't mind watching them again! :D My sister and I were out today, went to a country show, but there was never more han a 5 minute gap between some LOTR discussing. I even started to well up in the car talking about the "For Frodo" moment. I'm always like this when I've seen the films. There are flaws, for certain. From a techincal standpoint, things could be fixed. Some of the effects don't hold up quite so well, and there are quite a few continuity errors (though considering they were flitting from filming scsnes from one tfilm to another then back again, spread across the whole country, of as many as you might expect). Storywise, some of the dialogue is shonky and greater (or lesser) explanations may have been required at times. But I just think they do so much right, and that all these right elements fit together so beautifully, it's impossible not to be completely swept up in the story and characters.

Went to an axhibition of weapons and armour from LOTR and other Weta-related films at the Leeds Rotal Armouries t'other day. I always knew that the suff in the films was incredibly detailed, well beyond what you actually see, but some of the stuff on show here was just mindblowing. I've come away with a whole new level of appreciation for the Weta bods. A few weeks back, Richard Taylor himself was meant to be there, but he couldn't make it due to Hobbit pre-production!
