Blade Runner - The Final Cut. It was really quite good... :D

PrincessAura- 12-21-2007

Only really quite good Homer? That's all to be said? Are you running a fever?

Homer- 12-21-2007

No, I'm trying to contain myself or I'll be here all night talking about it :D:D:D

PrincessAura- 12-21-2007

Not a worry to anyone here! :D

Cuchulainn- 12-22-2007

Great stuff...4/5.

Aeon- 12-23-2007

Alvin & The Chipmunks - Funny at first, but the joke soon wears off. Still it's harmless fun and I forsee this becoming a cult classic amongst stoners and students everywhere.

Screamy- 12-23-2007

Alvin & The Chipmunks Loved it. Full of nostalgia and it respected the franchise and the fans who grew up with it. I told the witch doctor :nana: 8/10

Homer- 12-23-2007

Elf. Brilliant! Can't believe I've never seen it before! Perfect pre-Christmas entertainment for Christmas Eve-Eve.

Cuchulainn- 12-23-2007

Sporadically entertaining...On the whole,a disappointment...2/5.

Cuchulainn- 12-23-2007

Proof positive that when Spielberg's bad,he's utterly woeful... An ideal story set up completely wasted with trite and frankly condescending characterization,set-bound set pieces that never get off the ground (sorry) and the added horror of the insipid, mall generation Lost Boys... Despite some moments of genuine tenderness this is an appalling mess of a movie, and the only one who can hold his head up high after this farrago is John Williams, who contributes a marvellous score... Don't watch this with children, they'll be even more bored than you will... 1/5

A Muppet Christmas Carol. I was never a huge Muppet fan growing up - not that I actively disliked them, but they were never on my radar, so consequently I don't have the same warmth that others have viewing films like this through rose-tinted spectacles. My son seemed to enjoy it, and my wife's a big Muppet fan. I thought it was good, but not great. 3/5. Mind you, my wife did mention that it was edited for some obscure reason - songs were missing and stuff. It was on Five, but I don't really see there being a 'BANNED! UNCUT! version!' of the Muppets, somehow. Ah well, got Santa Claus: The Movie that I Sky+ed today, The Polar Express, and, if we have time, The Grinch to plow through tomorrow! Not forgetting that classic Christmas Eve must-watch - Die Hard.

The second best Christmas movie of all time! I watched it on DVD last night, and that's been cut as well, so I'm presuming the same scene was missing for you. When Scrooge sees his younger self and his girlfriend and they break up, she starts to sing. The older Scrooge remembers the word and joins in, that's wyy he's so upset at the end and Rizzo is crying. It makes no sense at all that this is missing, In fact, it makes me furious. Still a practically perfect film though, but thank God I still have a VHS version from about 12 years ago that is unedited :D I was never a Muppet fan as a child either. I saw the films but wasn't a huge fan. It's in the last few years though I realised just how great they are. The TV show is a work of absolute genius, and the first 5 films are just brilliant. Ignore the stuff from the last 8 years though.

St. Trinians (2007), the girls of the most dangerous, maddest and always entertaining school in the UK are back, an old standard is brought kicking and screaming into the 21st Century. This has the girls of St. Trinians, with Rupert Everett as their Headmistress!! (), trying to steal a valuable painting from the National Gallery in order to save their school, which is in horrendous debt, whilst trying to keep the Education Minister (Colin Firth), at bay. A very funny film, keeping in with the spirit of the old films, but changing the attitude, the girls are attractive and so is Everett!! But, a good cast includes Lena Headey, Stephen Fry and Russell Brand!! :P 4/5 Bugsy Malone (1976), the sort of film you'd sadly NEVER get away with now, although it was certainly a novel and original idea at the time. Director Alan Parker did a gangster film, and made it with an ALL child cast, and he brings out the best in them, including Scott Baio (later of Happy Days fame), as Bugsy, and a young Jodie Foster as singer Tallulah. Say what you want to about this film, but the fact of the matter is, the kids are top notch, and the songs, (by Paul Williams), are toe-tapping and quite memorable, and any film with machine guns that fire custard cream can't be ALL bad!! :P 5/5 Help! (1965), And NOW For Something Completely Different!! The Beatles follow up A Hard Days Night (1964) with a hilarious, zany, surreal and ABSOLUTELY BONKERS comedy caper musical!! With an Eastern cult chasing Ringo as he has a sacred ring of theirs, and it takes the Fab Four to Austria, Salisbury Plain, Buckingham Palace and the Bahamas. Director Richard Lester is at the peak of his powers here, there's no plot, but the zany humour more than makes up for that!! The dialogue is MAD!! ("Hold! Release him or I shoot, and I am a dead-eye shot, shooting!" or "This is no time for foolish tricks, this is a hired-car!") The lads can act, and the music and humour make up for any sense... :P 5/5

Moonraker (1979), James Bond does Star Wars!! :D Roger Moore takes his Bond into camper territories, as Bond investigates the disappearance of Space Shuttles, and their manufacturer Sir Hugo Drax (Michael Lonsdale) has something to do with it. Bond travels to California, Venice, Rio and outer space in this silly film, good special effects for it's day, but Bond doesn't belong in outer space. A guilty pleasure!! ;) 4/5 Notes on a Scandal (2006), a really taut, tight and suspensful British drama. With Cate Blanchett as teacher Sheba Hart, who begins an affair with a 15-year-old pupil. However, history teacher Barbara Covett, (Judi Dench) notices this, and promises to help Sheba through it, but she uses it as a way to manipulate Sheba, causing her grief and stress. A very powerful drama with plenty of uncomfortable moments, but Dench is BRILLIANT as the wicked old spinster, oh, and Bill Nighy is in it. 4/5 I Am Legend (2007), a new adaptation of Richard Matheson's cult book, this time, starring Will Smith as Robert Neville, the last man on Earth, which was wiped out by a disease, all expect Neville, who has a natural immunity, living in New York City, which has returned to nature. But, he is not alone, as when night falls upon the city, the city is over run by vampire mutants. It's Smiths performance which holds this film together, it's well made, and seeing New York deserted is nothing short of creepy, but the mutants aren't brilliantly realised. Oh, well. :P 4/5

I am Legend IMAX *some spoilers* The Dark Knight segment shown before it is truly brilliant, the film will be great.... the actual film (I am Legend) isn't quite as good as this 5-minute segment but still here's my verdict- Starts off great, but the CGI on the Vampires is amongst the worst I have ever seen, absolutely dreadful, like Voldemort meets the Mummy, they're supposed to be Vampires. A very very good film that continuously dips... a 4 star film that becomes a 2 star one... good but a shame. In the end, Will Smith is terrific and the film itself bar the Vamps is very good so I'd go for 3.5/5 especially as the ending isn't totally happy but it's does pander to the usual conventions at points (ala War of the Worlds) 3.5/5
