Neighbours (1st view) – Delightful Buster Keaton short, full of mind-blowing visual humour and stunts – 4/5 The Good German (1st view) – Great performances from Cate Blanchett and George Clooney, a wonderful style and tone that harks back to the golden age of Hollywood, but overall the story just isn’t engaging enough – 3/5 Jumper (1st view) – A decent premise is helped along by fine action and (mostly) great effects, but it’s quite pedestrian in other areas. The kind of film that would probably seem better if it had a sequel – 3/5 Fracture (1st view) – A twisty-turny thriller, oftentimes quite unbelievable but never less than engrossing. Anthony Hopkins had been better, but he gives a worthwhile performance and Ryan Gosling is excellent – 4/5

Be Kind Rewind Biggest disappointment i've seen in a while. The swedes (Amateur copies of big movies)of Ghostbusters, Robocop and the Swede montage were great and the ladder moment but that was about it. I just wanted it to end, and was constantly feeling its went on to long. Mos Def appeared to know he was making an absolute mess of a film. 5/10

Once Such a sweet and innocent movie. No expectations and just a smooth story that you can fall in love with. Highlight : "Hanky-panky" :D Had me laughing for quite a bit. 4.5/5

nomimalone- 03-01-2008

Great performances from Jodie Foster and Terrence Howard make this mediocre thriller just about watchable. Disappointing. 2/5

The Bank Job (2008) Enjoyable better than average Brit heist movie. 6/10

Jareth- 03-01-2008

U2 3D Bono tried to grab me... other than that an amazing experience, rocking and very powerful 5/5

The Bank Job - Surprisingly good. Excellent cast and a Statham that actually acts for once! I loved the story and the soundtrack. Catch it if you can.

Fargo (1996), the Coen Brothers' other Oscar winning film, allegedly based on a true story (which is isn't.) This has a false kidnapping plotted by strapped-for-cash carsalesman Jerry Lundegaard (William H. Macy), who hires two crooks Gaear Grimsrud (Peter Stormare) and Carl Showalter (Steve Buscemi), to kidnap his wife. But, nothing goes as planned, especially when murder comes into it, local police chief Marge Gunderson (Frances McDormand, who won an Oscar.) You can always trust Joel and Ethan Coen to come up with a good film, this is a compelling crime thriller with some moments of hilarious black comedy, and the snow covered landscape of Minnesota looks literally chilling and hypnotic. 5/5

The Testimony of Taliesin Jones (1st view) - Sweet and enjoyable coming of age drama, about a young boy who believes that his piano tutor is also a faith healer. It's a bit mawkish at times but the cast, including Jonathan Pryce, Geraldine James and Ian Bannen (in his last role) make it more than worthwhile - 3/5 The Boat (2nd view) - Buster Keaton short in which he builds a boat inside his house and then has to go about getting it to the docks. Once on the voyage, he and his family suffer all kinds of hilarious mishaps Great fun - 4/5

Elizabeth: The Golden Age Flawless performances, most notably by Geoffrey Rush, who I absolutely adore in this role. The general tone was left wanting though and I felt no more than satisfied with a tinge of disappointment when the credits rolled. One minor criticism - surely with their budget they could've come up with a better "filler" for history than that sad display of yellow fuzzy writing at the beginning? 3.5/5 Michael Clayton Very unusual role and yet another performance shown from the supporting roles that stood out from me - this time from Tom Wilkinson - not that George Clooney didn't shine as well. Really quite enjoyed it, although I'd like to watch it again 4/5

I'm glad someone else liked Michael Clayton as much as I did. Most folk I know hated it.

I'm glad someone else liked Michael Clayton as much as I did. Most folk I know hated it. It's probably just misunderstood a lot. I'd like to re-watch it because I figure it's the type of movie you can miss things initially. If that makes sense.
