Cast Away (2000), Tom Hanks reunites with director Robert Zemeckis after Forrest Gump (1994), for this modern day telling of Robinson Crusoe. This has FedEx executive Chuck Noland (Hanks), who is always ruling his life by time, but when he is involved in a plane crash and is stranded on a desert island, he has to learn to survive on the island. It's an interesting idea for a film, and with only one performance holding the bulk of the film sounds risky, but with Hanks, it works. This is a man who has to throw everything he lives by away, and learn to keep on living, even when there might be no hope. But, it is very well directed, and for a film set within a small island, it is beautifully shot. 4/5
