Charlie Bartlett - For a film that deals with some very serious issues, this was extremely funny! It boasts an excellent script, a director that brought out the best of the entire cast, which was just on a roll. I couldn't fault a single performance. Funny, quotable and a running time that seemed much less. A future classic, I hope.

The Hard Way (2nd view) - Interesting and comical take on the buddy cop movie. Michael J. Fox stars as Nick Lang, a hollywood stars who wants to act in a gritty detective movie, so he teams up with veteran cop James Woods, who hates this intrusion. The film is best when it's these two bickering, as the main plot of catching a serial killer isn't really that special. Good solid fun though - 4/5 The Court Jester (3rd view) - A masterly romp through garish costumes, wordplay, miscommunation and clever songs. The wonderful Danny Kaye excels here and he's backed by a fine cast, Basil Rathbone, Cecil Parker and Glynis Jones are all particularly good. Some of the dialogue borders on legendary ("The vessel with the pestle", "the Doge did what the Doge does") but my favourite sequence is when Kaye is disguised as an old, deaf man, Hilarious - 4/5 Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (1st view) - It'll be almost impossible to write a short bluub on this, I know I'll just go on on on. There'a larger review in the reviews section if everyone actually cares. For now I'll say that I loved a great deal, but there was also a lot that bothered me. Great entertainment on the whole though - 4/5

I used to watch this over and over with my brother. Woods and Fox are great in it. So many lines that always crack me up "Bang! Bang! Nick Lang." followed by Liutenent Moss' exasperated reaction. Moss taking out his rage on the cigarette machine, LL Cool J "He's over there relaxing!" Dead Romeo gang member: "Hey! You look just like Nick Lang!" Lang: "Yeah, only shorter, right?" Dead Romeo gang member: "No, whiter!" I'm gonna watch it when I get home from work tonight now...

Danny Kaye has been my hero since I was a small child. I love him and everything he has ever been in. This one is a particular favourite!

Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983), the Grindhouse of it's day, but a film over-shadowed by a tragic accident. But, despite what you may have heard, it's still quite a good film. The first segment, directed by John Landis has Vic Morrow as a bigot getting a taste of his own medicine, Segment 2, directed by Steven Spielberg, set in a retirement home, has Scatman Crothers as an old man regaining the youth of it's old residents. Joe Dante does segment 3, with a little boy who has enslaved his family with cartoon like powers, and George Miller's segment has John Lithgow as a passenger on a plane who things he sees a monster on the wing. A good film, but it's more satirical than scary, and only Dante's and Miller's segments are the ones that stand up the most, but it does make for good viewing. Oh, and in Dante's segment, that's Nancy Cartwright (the voice of Bart Simpson) as Ethel. :P 3/5

Across The Universe (2007), acclaimed director Julie Taymor, makes a visual musical masterpiece based on Beatles songs. This has Scouse shipworker Jude (Jim Sturgess) travelling to America to find his father, but soon falling for Lucy (Evan Rachel Wood), and they get involved with the care-free, peaceful love generation of the 1960's. It's quite mad, but it's well made, and has good central performances, plus it makes more sense than the last attempt of a Beatles musical. ;) But, it features celebrity cameos from the likes of Bono, Eddie Izzard, Salma Hayek and Joe Cocker. There hasn't been a film like this in a long, long time, and from seeing this, there should be more. Plus, the versions of Beatles classics on display here are well performed too!! ;) 4/5

The Masque Of The Red Death (1st view) – Roger Corman’s take on Edgar Allan Poe’s story, starring the always reliable Vincent Price. In truth, it’s really only worth watching for Price, who once again provides us with a slick charismatic villain. Corman’s low budget horrors often have an unmistakable charm to them, but this was lacking here, and most of the cast are terrible. The good story at the centre gets lost and the whole thing is a missed oppurtunity – 2/5 Sahara (11th view) – First things first. I love this film. A great popcorn actioner. Matthew McCoConaughey makes for a very likeable hero, but Steve Zahn as his best mate and sidekick steals the film. The action is slick and smooth, Clint Mansell delivers a rousing score, and it’s chock full of classic rock songs. Cheesy as hell and all the better for it – 4/5 The Last Samurai (4th view) – Edward Zwick’s historical epic. Pretty much condemned by many as simply being Oscar bait. Perhaps true, perhaps not, but for me this film delivers. Tom Cruise often gets a bad rep as an actor but I like the guy, and he’s near his best in this, incredibly expressive. Still, the film is stolen by Ken Watanabe as Katsumoto, the titular character, and Hiroyuki Sanada as Ujio, who simply defines cool. Zwick has a good handle on the quieter moments of the story, but also gives us some spectacular action. Very good indeed – 4/5

How have you seen this?! I don't understand. The premiere isn't supposed to be until 19th June, I know because at two seperate people have tried to get me tickets to see it. I literally cannot wait for that film. I'm more excited than about anything else this summer, including Indy and Dark Knight.

Sex and the City Wonderful film, one of the best films I've seen in a long time. It's extremely girly, and romantic but at the same time it's funny and sad and real. I suspect that if you haven't watched the show it may not be quite as emotional to watch, but after 6 series of watching the characters you really really want them to be happy, and it's devastating when things go wrong. It's like watching your best friend go through relationship traumas. It's a lovely, clever, funny film about love and friendship. As an objective observer it's not a 5 star film, it's probably a low 4, although it's the best rom com in years, but I haven't been as genuinely and wholly happy as I was coming out of that cinema in weeks, and for that it's a personal 5 star for me. I want to watch it again!

Cuchulainn- 05-31-2008

That's the first positive 'review' I've read about Sex And The City,KB... The Irish Times gave it one star, and the review was poor to say the least...

K.B. Flumpet- 05-31-2008

Well that's mostly because I'm a hopeless romantic, I love happy endings and I have no taste at all. I was bound to love it. Empire gave it 3 stars and a not bad review.

Cuchulainn- 05-31-2008

Oh,I'm not down on the movie...It's not my thing at all but I wouldn't start slagging it off as I'll probably never see it... I didn't read Empire's review as I don't buy it anymore... Anyway,it's good to see it appealed to fans of the show,I don't suppose reviews matter in that respect. It'll make a fortune anyway...
