With the casting of the X files 2 movie currently happening I think its time for a X files thread. Loved the first series and the episodes with Eugene Tooms were the best as was ICE (the thing rip off) Also Gillan Anderson was one of my teenager fantasies > BTW The casting so far for x files 2 is Xzibit and Amanda Peet who will play fellow FBI agents to Mulder and Scully. Also cast is Billy Connolly

I used to love The X-Files (and still do) but it kind of fell off for me towards the end. For some reason it seemed to lose its way when shooting for the series moved from Canada to LA. My favourite seasons were 1 and 2, slightly more 2 than 1. My favourite episodes were Humbug, Irresistable and, from later seasons, All Souls and the Redux two parter. Oddly, I never really cared for the 'mythology' episodes as much which got a bit silly with black oil aliens against the good aliens etc etc. I agree with Screamy about Gillian Anderson, she certainly was a hotty. Bizarre casting for the second movie :?

I love The X-Files, quite easily my 2nd favourite TV show (It used to be number one until I started to watch ER) In later years you really did need to invest into the mythology and conspiracies that that show had wrapped itself up in, but I don't think it ever lost its way, and Doggett and Reyes were fine additions to the cast. Some of the very best and moving episodes came near the end (one featuring The Lone Gunmen in particular) Still, it was Mulder and Scully's show all the way, two brilliant TV creations, both wonderfully played, they had a fantastic rapport and their relationship, both professional and personal was superb. The show also had a great host of supporting characters, the Lone Gunmen, Skinner (he was brilliant), The Smoking Man, Cassandra Spender, Deep Throat, Krychek, Mr X, Marita Covarrubias, Diana Fowley, the Bounty Hunter. All hugely memorable in their own way. A truly great show that I never get tired of (apart from the series 4 episode Home, that was the shows worst hour :sad: ). What are the strange decisions for the new film?

Xzibit: Aka hip/hop rapper type blokey, also does the whole "pimp my ride" thing. Amanda Peet: Aka not a very good actress but happens to be a skinny bint so will therefore be a sex symbol. Billy Connolly Aka sell out Scottish comedian with a penchant for getting nekked. Unlikely to in The X Files.

Alvin Nethanial Joyner apparently. I'd change it too thinking about it.

Oh dear god. It gets worse. What's wrong with using, oh off the top of my head, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson?

They probably cost too much now. Duchovny has found some pretty good success with Californication and Anderson is getting a name back for herself after Last King of Scotland. They probably wouldn't want to be associated with it now.

If they wanted fellow agents, why not keep Robert Patrick and Annabeth Gish? They worked well together. Still, we'll have to see. Peet is decent enough in Studio 60, and Xzibit might surprise us all (after all, the fairly useless Ice T is very good in Law & Order)

I'm usually a bit sceptical about rappers (or any popstar for that matter) turned actors 'cause rap is... well it's shit. But I'll reserve judgement. Billy Connolly is an unexpected casting. Interesting. Here's a recent pic of Gillian with her hair dyed back to 'Scully' (she was blonde for a while). Still looks lovely to me.

She still looks like a horse to me, but there ya go.
