You need people of intelligence on this sort of mission ... quest... thing!" (Ran out of space in the title bar)
So, who is your favourite character? And, more importantly, why?
Please note you're allowed more than one favourite, but you have to give reasons for all. Mine's easy, Gollum. I will explain at a later date but it's half ten and I've taken a sleeping tablet which is beginning to make its effects known.

I remember a few posts you've made in the past about how good a character Gollum is!
For me, based on the films, it would have to be Aragorn, Gandalf or Theoden. I'm not entirely sure why, but putting aside how they are acted and just basing it one actions and words, I just really like them all. I think it might have something to do with the fact that they are all leaders yet they all go about being so in different ways. Just strong characters I think.

Oooh toughie...For obvious reasons I would pick Aragorn, but the brothers Faramir and Boromir kinda take the lead. Heroic and tragic. Faramir I think more than Boromir despite his sacrifice. The only person who can't see Faramir's worth is his father and everyone knows this. It's heartbreaking to see him lead his men into a battle where he knows most of them will die just in order to follow his father's wishes.

Ha! Just a few...
I agree Aura, Faramir is another brilliant character. And much as it pains me to say this because obviously I think Daisy was a wonderful Faramir, he is a far better character in the books than in the films. One of the very few issues I had with the films was the alterations to Faramir's character and storyline. They also should have made more of his relationship with Eowyn and less of Aragorn's relationship with Arwen. I know which one I think is the better romance.

I'd go with Smeagol/Gollum...When you think about it the entire book can be interpreted as his quest to get his 'precious' back...
The whole 'split-personality' element of the character worked marvellously in the films for me...
I've always loved the slimy little git...

My fave character is between Eomer and Pippin..
Eomer because he is such a brave, loyal courgeous man who is not easliy taken in my tricks of a certain wizard...He is also a pretty good fighter to boot...
Pippin becuase though his lack of intelligecne, he manages to see humour in even the darkest of momenets....The kind of person you would want by your side in the worst of times....
